We went on a sweet vacation a couple of weeks ago. I am a bit slow on the draw although it is for a good reason. In about a weeks vacation I can take anywhere from 500-2000 pictures that I need to sort through and it takes quite a long while. Here is our trip dets. ala google maps HERE. Basically, a quick low down: We left Calgary at 4pm and stopped at Hope, BC for a few hour nap and then onto Bellingham (where we ate amazing Mexican food). After that we went to the outlet stores in Tulalip, Wa and got some killer deals. Stayed the night in Everett, Wa. The next morning we headed to Edmonds where we caught the ferry to Kingston, Wa. We passed through there and stopped in Port, ANgeles for the night. The next morning we took another ferry to Victoria, BC where we passed through and stopped in Duncan, BC. After a short stop with a train ride we ended up in Nanoose Bay, BC for 4 nights. We left the Island and stayed in the Loops overnight and then headed home. Super super fun! Here are some of the photos with descriptions of events.
This is the Edmonds to Kingston ferry. Sterls is pointing out the window to show us where the whales were. He was worried they were going to tip over the boat and usually tried to stay away from the windows at all times.
Port Angeles, Wa.
We stayed at this hotel in Port Angeles on the beach.
Trevor found his favourite store by far as you can tell by his super excitement *Note the sarcasm here. We went in and got dirty looks from the sales clerk because we were making fun of all the nerdy Twilight propaganda.
We did some more shopping, and I was able to score an old sweet Coca Cola tin sign. IN love, sigh!
The train ride in Duncan, BC. You can tell it was super busy by this photo.
The train made a stop in this logging area with a ton of old logging equipment.
Sterls looking pretty. He loves his flowers.
THe train museum in Duncan.
This is the view from our Oceanside resort in Nanoose Bay, BC. Loved this resort and am totally staying here again. The rooms were townhouse style and included a kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, laundry and a a bathroom with a fireplace. Yup, so nice. You walked out your back patio into this nice private green are overlooking the ocean. The resort had 3 pool areas (one on the point looking over the ocean, one called the rock pool (pictured below) and one indoor inside the resort building. There were also acres of private beach, 2 aquariums and free kayaks to use in the bay. Yup, loved it here.
Here is the place we stayed. On the other side of the bushes is the ocean.
We went to this place inland a little bit called Cathedral Grove. Basically, it was an old grove with trees as old at 800 years old. Not quite as big as the redwoods in Cali but still quite impressive.
We went to Parksville and hung out by the beach. Kids loved it!
