On Friday we started on our next project on our 'To get done before the little thing is here' list. Any guesses from our not so subtle title? Yup, flooring is next on the list. This HAD to be done for several reasons:
1) Sterling's hands and legs get torn up on carpet. If his pants come off while he is crawling, he can tear up his legs in minutes and seriously injure them. Yup, not so good to crawl on carpet when you can't feel your legs!
2) Previous owners had a huge dog in this house before we moved in AND said dog was in every single room in this house. This = so nasty and disgusting it makes my skin crawl every time Sterling crawls across the carpet. Dogs pretty much repulse me in homes because it just seems so insanitary. Point proven in photo below. Several pee stains on all our sub-floors. I had to scrub down all the subfloors and prime them with kilz to get rid of the horrible odor released by taking out the carpet. Yes, I am a super freak about my house being clean. Tidy not such a big deal but clean is a must. Plus, think about it: Sterling crawls on his hands ALL day. So I have to be extra diligent about keeping my floors swept and mopped on a daily basis. Happy we live in Canada where it is offensive to wear shoes in someone's house as I can't I
Imagine the nightmare of Sterling crawling on that.
3) Trevor has pretty bad pet allergies and they did and do act up on a regular basis due to retained dog hairs in the carpet. Nice to get rid of the allergy retaining carpet.
4) Ten-year-old cheap carpet does not hold up well.
Trevor and I spent a couple hours taking off baseboards, pulling up carpet and removing staples. Then i scrubbed and primed the subfloor to get rid of odor. The next day we laid the foam subfloor and then the laminate. Super love it...Well, as much as I can love laminate. I am not a laminate fan but since they had already laid it on the main floor we thought it might be odd to have hardwood upstairs. I do admit this is a ten-fold improvement over dirty stinky old carpet.
Now for three more bedrooms...

Valentines Day Celebrations
We celebrated Valentines Day in typical form by decorating sugar cookies....Of course I didn't actually have any Valentines cookie cutters, so we improvised and just did animal cookies with pink icing. Sterling iced lots of cookies and Emery ate lots of cookies.
Trevor got me flowers and my constant pregnancy craving companion of slurpee (can't get enough of those, this pregnancy). The kids made Trevor cards and I made Trevor a coupon book. Armed with Photoshop, a printer and cardstock it is full of coupons for things a Papa would love such as 2 hours free time without us, his favorite dessert made by me and even time to play video games....lucky! Trying to save money because Trevor is going to school on February 21st. Yay for being home early for 6 weeks (4:00pm instead of 5:30-6:00pm)!!! I think he Is pretty excited too because this year he is learning paint.
Now time to get ready to soak up the long Family Day weekend....Oooh, excited already!

Hero Envy
Sterls has acquired his first hero. I must say I am quite impressed with his pick. Watch the link below and you will understand.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xjUUf_sK84&sns=em
All he can talk about lately is Josh Dueck this and Josh Dueck that. A few of my personal favourites:
"I'm Josh Dueck"
"I'll get you with my Josh Dueck gun" - He had dubbed his nerf gun the Josh Dueck gun, sooooo rad!
"Josh Dueck and I are the same. We both can't move our legs. That makes me cool because he is cool" -Loving that it is now cool to be in a wheelchair!
Seriously, this is such a great hero for him to have at three-years-old! So happy there are people like him out there to inspire little boys that they are cool and can do amazing things. LOVE IT!

The news is in.
Pretty good news at doctor today.
Good news: My blood pockets from my placenta detaching are almost gone. Bad news: On bed rest for 3 weeks to make sure it is gone and my placenta doesn't dettach again. Or else it can cause pre-term labour.
Baby seems healthy, although it was hard to get all the measurements because little man was moving way too much.
So pretty much my goal is to not go insane in the next 3 weeks. I always constantly have to be in motion and can't sit for more then 15 minutes and even that is hard for me. Trust me Trevor can attest this this trait and it drives him INSANE!!! I think he secretly likes when I'm sick because I'm only in motion half as much and he actually gets to relax. Poor man!
