White is my cup of tea

I have been on a white rampage as Of late and still not close to finished. I painted the oak on our front entrance shelves white along with the desk area as a sort of test area before I paint the entire kitchen and stair rails. I love it! Oak and me are not friends. White is my jam. I am so excited for the white subway tile backsplash and white cabinets with black counters. Oh, I get all giddy just thinking about it! I will post before photos when I finally get the rest of my kitchen painted.

Oh, I also had a busy curtain and blind day. I made a faux roman shade for my kitchen window, hung up and put ribbon on Sterlings roller blinds, added ribbon to Emy's roller blinds and also mine. Whew, loving how I feel these days.

I promise I will post photos from my slr when I do the post for my whole kitchen. I'm am so busy these days that I take the easy way out with my iPhone.

Easy Peasy Blinds

I have made these blinds before in my last place. They are super easy, no sewing involved and you can work with what you have do also super cheap.

We moved into this house and it contained the dreaded mini-blinds (oh how I loathe you mini-blinds). I finally found a fabric cheap enough for a cheapo like myself at 70% off a white linen. I wanted something simple as I have bold yellow stripes on my curtains and crazy couch pillows.

All it took was 5 meters of white fabric, the exsisting mini blinds, hem tape, fabric glue and a roll of plain ribbon. So happy with the results that took about three hours total and $25. Whew, love it!

Oh the joys!

My son makes me smile on a daily basis. I'm just sitting at Alberta Children's Hospital waiting for his monthly PT appointment. A few minutes ago he found a boy about 8-years-old also in a wheelchair. He then challenges this boy to a race down the halls of children's. Yup, two boys (one a third the size of the other) racing down the halls pushing all sorts of adults against the walls in surprise. It made me laugh but then I had to chase my little one about three hundred feet down the hall because there was no way he was coming back. So cute!

I'm Feeling Productive

Yup, I officially seem to be out of the 24/7 morning sickness rut.  Well, mostly...I still throw up twice a day and don't function the first couple of hours because I am so sick (I basically just sit and stare at the wall for the first two hours of my day), but my last two pregnancies I was sick 24/7 until the day I gave birth.  Meaning, when I wasn't on Zofran, I was throwing up anywhere from 4-15 times a day and only 2 times a day while on it.  Now that I said it, I have jinxed myself and the last week of only being sick a couple hours a day is going to make me pay and be 10 times as sick.

That being said, I have been super productive this week.  I know I know, I am supposed to take it easy.  This is taking it easy for me.  I'm totally serious about this is taking it easy for me.  THis last week I:

Refinished my set of three mini blinds in my living room into roman blinds.

Primed and painted the cabinets and drawers white in my desk area (they used to be oak, bleh).

Primed and painted the oak shelves near my front door white.

Got my food storage and home reno. shelves organized.

Cleaned up the cords and computer in my desk area.

Cleaned all my windows.

Fixed all the dents and holes in my wall and painted them (a little boy in a wheelchair makes a million dents in only 4 months time...seriously, I filled about 200 of them).

See aren't I productive.  I think I needed to be after months and months of just sitting and feeling crappy.

So, when the sun comes up I will take some photos to post the last few projects.  Yup, I'm excited.  Although, don't expect much...I am lazy and just take Iphone photos these days because I can post them directly from my phone instead of hooking up my camera.

My new fav. Dresser

My sister recently moved and got rid of some furniture. Naturally I scooped them right up to finish in my own style. Scored this sweet midcentury dresser. Love it! Made my own stencil out of frog tape and wax paper. This is what she became after a sanding, a stencil and a quick paint (love her):
